A: You may refer your child for an evaluation by submitting a written request to your school district.
Q: What happens when a referral is made?
A: Within 20 calendar days of receiving your written request, the school district will hold a meeting to discuss your concerns.
Q: How does your company conduct the evaluation?
A: Upon receipt of a written referral from the school district and with parental consent, an individual evaluation will be conducted by Learning Tree, Inc. Evaluation may consist psychological assessment, learning assessment, speech/language assessment and a social history assessment as requested by the school district and may be necessary to ascertain the physical, mental, and emotional factors, which contribute to the suspected disability.
Q: Do I have to pay for the evaluation?
A: No, all evaluations will be provided at no cost to parents, conducted in an appropriate environment and submitted in a timely manner to the school district.
Q: My child’s primary language is not English. How do you assess my child?
A: Our certified personnel will administer assessments in a child’s native language.
Q: What will be included in a report of an individual evaluation?
A: The documentation of the evaluation will include a detailed statement of the child’s strengths, weaknesses, and individual needs. If any, and a recommendation as to the general type, frequency and duration of special education services, and programs that should be provided. It will also address the manner in which the student can be provided with instruction in the least restrictive environment.
Q: What is the school district required to do when the evaluation is completed?
A: When the evaluation is completed, the school district will consider all the evaluations, provide a copy of the evaluation report (s) to the parent, and have a collaborative meeting with Child Study Team members including parents to determine the child’s eligibility for special education and related services.
